Embedded AI Lead
OpenKit becomes your business’s embedded AI team: the people who ran your audit stay on to deliver your 12 month roadmap. Move from a costed roadmap to systems your team is running, one workflow at a time.
The retainer starts where the audit ends.
Most engagements start with the AI Audit and Transformation, and what follows depends on what it surfaces: many teams keep us on as their Embedded AI Lead, and some commission a Bespoke Build where nothing off the shelf will fit. There’s no fixed package to fit you into, so we start with a working session and agree together how the team comes in.
A working session
We go through your hours and your tools, and agree what’s worth building first.
The audit comes first.
It maps where AI pays back in your organisation and leaves a prioritised roadmap that’s yours to keep, whether or not we build it.
Then we build what it found.
The same OpenKit people stay on to build it with your team, on a retainer you review at the end of every month. Where something has to stay inside your own infrastructure, we build it there (Private AI).
Your retainer runs month to month once the AI Audit and Transformation is complete, and you decide at the end of each month whether it continues.
We work inside your week.
The same people are with you all week, and the week after, so what we build stays in the heads of people your team can walk over and ask. You’re in the room for all of it.
- Mon
In your standup
We agree what the week has to ship with the people who’ll be doing it.
- Tue
Build day
We build in your own repository, wiring each automation into the systems your people already use.
- Wed
Build + review
We log every run, and review the work with the people who’ll own it once we’ve gone.
- Thu
Ship + train
It goes live on real workflows, and we train your champions on it while it’s landing.
- Fri
Log + plan
We write up what shipped, and scope next week with you before we go.
Measured ROI on every build
Your finance team can check the saving, because we set every number against the baseline the audit agreed with you.
We ship as work lands and review it with the people who’ll use it, so each piece is in real use while the next one is being built. Four of those weeks make a month, and at the end of each one you decide whether the next runs. We stay past handover as well, at a lighter touch while things settle.
A retainer needs an owner on your side.
The retainer works when someone on your side is ready to own what we hand over. Your champions sit in the reviews while each system is being built and learn it as it lands, so by the time we step back they are running it without us.
It’s a poor fit if what you want is a supplier running your AI quietly in the background, because we train your people in the open and hand them the work. If you’re not yet sure which workflows are worth the money, start with the AI Audit and Transformation and come back to this page with a costed roadmap in your hand.
Our success stories.
“The study was focussed and really gave us a validation of our concept, a technical roadmap and prioritisation of the developments. The OpenKit team engaged well during the project, and through capture of workflows and interviews gained a good understanding of what we do.”
“Having completed our second major AI agent development project with OpenKit, I can confidently say they’re the real deal … you can instantly verify every AI output against source documents.”
“OpenKit’s team remained focused on our objectives and was able to consistently prioritise the needs of our communities … effective, but also a genuine pleasure.”

FAQ
Do we need an AI strategy first?
No. Most teams start with the AI Audit and Transformation, which maps where AI pays back. The retainer is how we build the roadmap it produces, with your team.
Who actually turns up?
The same people who ran your audit. They already know your systems, and they know who on your side will be running them afterwards, so the first month isn’t spent bringing anyone up to speed.
How much of the team’s time do we get?
You agree it with us when the retainer starts, and we review it at the end of each month as the work settles.
What happens when they leave?
We aim at them leaving well from the first month, so we train your people to run and extend each system as it ships. When the retainer ends nothing goes dark and nobody is left waiting on us.
Is this a fractional chief AI officer?
It’s a close cousin with a different job. A fractional CAIO sets company-wide direction from the leadership table, and an Embedded AI Lead builds the systems inside your team. Where you need both, the team we embed does both, taking the strategic read and building what follows from it.
